Announcement – Introducing “Learn 5 Essential Chinese Phrases!”
We are pleased to make another announcement for Monkey Mandarin. We just started a new ongoing category/series of posts called “Learn 5 Essential Chinese Phrases.”
Our goal with this series is to help you learn 5 new practical phrases that you can immediately use right away.
Each series is based on a theme and we typically have anywhere from 5-10 lessons per series. Series 1 is themed around “Greeting Others”. We hope that by the end of this series you will have in your toolkit the basics of greeting other Chinese people.
We really hope that this will grow into something like a travel book or a versatile phrase book that you can pull out and refer to whenever you need to find the right thing to say in the right situation!
That’s why we are also making available the slides to these videos for free. Simply sign up here.
Anyway without further ado, here is today’s video:
Hey everyone this is Nicole from Monkey Mandarin and you’ve tuned in to our Learn 5 Essential Chinese Phrases Series.
Our goal here is to help you learn five new practical phrases you can use immediately right away.
Our theme this week is Greeting Others. So let’s get started.
So our first example is 你好. It means hello hello there. In some south parts of China people do use 您好 to great senior people or to great professors or teachers.
So it’s similar to 你好 but it’s n-i-n h-a-o
Second example is 再见. It means goodbye / see you later.
So for example I’ll give you a sentence: you can say it was nice meeting you I hope to see you again. So it means 很高兴见到你。希望能够在尽快的再次见到你。
Or you can just say 再见。So it means hope to see you again.
The third example is 早上好。It means good morning so for example if you bump into someone in the morning, you can say oh hey good morning what’s your plans for the day?
So it means hi 早上好，你今天有什么安排/计划？
The fourth example is 下午好。When you are having lunch break with your colleagues you can say oh hey good afternoon how was your work today?
So it means oh hey 下午好，你今天的工作怎么样？
So the last example is 晚上好. It means good evening.
So for example if you catch up with your friends in the evening after work and you can say hey everyone good evening. How’s everything going?
It means oh hi 大家下午好，大家最近怎么样？
So I hope you liked this lesson if you like this lesson and want more don’t forget to subscribe so you will be notified when we release our next lesson!
